With 3 pubs, a village shop, cafe and deli you may wonder why you would need to explore beyond Askrigg. There is a patchwork and beautiful rural villages, all with something special to offer. Why not visit the nearby market towns of Hawes and Leyburn along with the pretty villages of Bainbridge, West Burton, Aysgarth and Carperby. They offer plenty to see and some great local walks and produce.

You may already have your activities planned, but there is always plenty to see and do what ever the weather! If you are searching out waterfalls, Aysgarth Falls and Hardraw Fall are a must. Lesser known falls at West Burton and Mill Gill in Askrigg are also well worth a visit. If you would like to discover a little more about our local history, then try a visit to Bolton Castle or the Dales Countryside Museum. For those seeking a little more adventure, why not spend the day at The Forbidden Corner or trying out some outdoor pursuits.

Yorkshire folk pride themselves on the quality of their food, drink and hospitality. You can find something to suit all budgets and tastes without exception!

Once you've sampled the fabulous food at the village pubs, you must try a little further afield. For that special occasion we can highly recommend the award winning Yorebridge House in the next village. If you are a fan of all things cheese, then visit the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes or sample some excellent pub food at the Wheatsheaf in Carperby.

There are a number of food and drink festivals thoughout the area during the year, maybe you will be lucky enough to catch one.
