Section 1

Who We Are

Cringley Cottage is run by Stars And Stiles Limited (company number 14294081, registered in England & Wales), which is the data controller for the information described here. You can contact us about anything in this notice at hello@cringleycottage.com.

Section 2

What We Collect

• Your name, email address, phone number and postal address, entered on the booking form.
• The details of your stay: dates, number of adults and children, whether you are bringing a dog, and anything you tell us in the message box.
• Payment records: the amounts you have paid and the Stripe payment reference. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us.
• Whether you asked to receive occasional offers by email, and when.
• Records of the booking emails we send you, so we can check they were delivered.
• A scrambled (hashed) form of your internet (IP) address when you use the booking form, kept for no more than a day, so we can stop automated misuse. We never store the address itself.

Section 3

Why We Use It

• To provide your booking (performing our contract with you): confirming your stay, taking payments, sending your check-in and check-out information, and contacting you about your booking.
• To meet our legal obligations: keeping accounting and tax records.
• With your consent: sending occasional offers and updates, only if you ticked the box. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any offer email, or by replying to any of our emails.
• For our legitimate interests: keeping the booking system secure and preventing double bookings or misuse.

Section 4

Who We Share It With

We never sell your information. We use a small number of trusted services to run the booking system, each of which only processes it on our behalf:

• Stripe, to take card payments securely.
• Supabase, which hosts our booking database.
• Resend, which delivers our booking emails.
• Airbnb and Booking.com receive only the dates that are booked, so the cottage can't be double-booked. Your name and contact details are not shared with them.
• Our accountants, for our business records.

Section 5

How Long We Keep It

• Booking and payment records: six years after the end of the tax year of your stay, as required for HMRC.
• Your marketing preference: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
• Bookings that were started but never paid for are cancelled automatically. We keep their details only as long as we need them to follow up or resolve a query, and review them at least once a year.

Section 6

Your Rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw your consent to marketing at any time. Just email us and we'll respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
