Terms & Conditions
of Booking
Cringley Cottage, Askrigg, Yorkshire Dales

By making a booking at Cringley Cottage, all guests agree to comply with the following terms and conditions. Please read these carefully before your stay. The lead guest is responsible for ensuring that all members of their party are aware of and adhere to these terms.
Section 1
Booking & Payment
- A non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your booking. The balance is due no later than 6 weeks before arrival. Bookings made within 6 weeks of the arrival date require payment in full at the time of booking.
- Bookings made via Booking.com or Airbnb are additionally subject to those platforms' own terms and conditions.
- The property is let for holiday use only. It may not be used for any commercial purpose, photoshoots, or events without prior written consent.
Section 2
Occupancy
- The maximum occupancy is 4 guests. This number must not be exceeded at any time.
- Only the guests named at the time of booking are permitted to stay overnight at the property.
- The property may not be sublet or the booking transferred to a third party without prior written consent.
- The owners reserve the right to refuse entry or to require guests to vacate the property in the event of a serious or repeated breach of these terms, with no entitlement to a refund.
Section 3
Check-In & Check-Out
- Check-in is from 3:00 pm on the day of arrival. Early check-in may be possible by prior arrangement but cannot be guaranteed.
- Check-out is by 10:00 am on the day of departure. Late check-out may be possible by prior arrangement. Unauthorised late departure may incur an additional charge.
- Guests are responsible for the safe keeping of any keys or access codes provided. Loss of keys may result in a charge to cover replacement costs.
Section 4
Cancellations & Refunds
- Cancellations must be notified in writing as soon as possible.
- Cancellations made more than 6 weeks before arrival: the booking deposit is non-refundable, but the balance will be returned in full.
- Cancellations made within 6 weeks of arrival: no refund will be due unless the property can be re-let for the same dates.
- We strongly recommend that guests take out appropriate holiday cancellation insurance.
- In the unlikely event that we are required to cancel a booking, guests will receive a full refund. No further compensation will be payable.
Section 5
Pets
- Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Cringley Cottage at no extra charge.
- Dogs must not be left unattended in the property at any time.
- Dogs are not permitted on beds or soft furnishings. Please bring your own dog bedding.
- All dog waste must be cleaned up immediately and disposed of responsibly.
- Any damage caused by pets is the responsibility of the guest and will be charged accordingly.
Section 6
No Smoking
- Cringley Cottage is strictly non-smoking throughout, including all indoor areas and outbuildings.
- This applies to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes, vapes, and any other smoking devices.
- Smoking is only permitted outside in designated outdoor areas. Guests must dispose of cigarette waste responsibly and not leave it in the garden.
- Evidence of indoor smoking will result in a deep-cleaning charge and may result in immediate termination of the stay without refund.
Section 7
Electric Vehicle & E-Scooter / E-Bike Charging
- The charging of electric vehicles (EVs), electric scooters, or electric bikes using the property's domestic electrical sockets is strictly prohibited.
- This applies both inside the property and via any external domestic socket.
- This restriction is in place for fire safety and electrical safety reasons. Domestic sockets are not designed or rated for sustained high-current charging and present a serious fire risk.
- Breach of this condition may render the guest's travel insurance invalid and may result in the guest being held liable for any resulting damage.
Section 8
Fireplace & Wood Burner
- The fireplace / wood burner must only be used in accordance with the instructions provided in the property.
- Only dry, seasoned wood or approved solid fuel provided or recommended by the owners should be used. Burning household waste, treated wood, or any other materials is strictly prohibited.
- Candles and naked flames are not permitted anywhere else in the property.
- The fire must never be left unattended and must be fully extinguished before guests retire to bed or leave the property.
- Smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, and fire extinguishers must not be tampered with or disabled. Please alert the owners immediately if any alarm activates or any device appears faulty.
Section 9
Noise & Behaviour
- Guests are asked to be considerate of neighbours at all times. Quiet hours are between 10:00 pm and 8:00 am.
- Parties, events, and gatherings beyond the stated maximum occupancy are strictly prohibited.
- The owners reserve the right to ask guests to leave without refund in the event of unacceptable behaviour, excessive noise, or disturbance to neighbours.
Section 10
Property Care & Damage
- Guests are responsible for taking reasonable care of the property and its contents throughout their stay.
- Any damage, breakages, or loss beyond fair wear and tear must be reported to the owners as soon as possible. Guests may be charged for the cost of repair or replacement.
- The property should be left in a clean and tidy condition on departure. Dishes should be washed, rubbish bagged and placed in the correct bins, and all windows and doors secured.
- Excessive cleaning requirements beyond normal use may result in an additional cleaning charge.
Section 11
Utilities & Equipment
- Guests should use utilities sensibly and responsibly. Windows and doors should be closed when the heating is on.
- Appliances must be used only for their intended purpose and in accordance with any instructions provided.
- Any faults or maintenance issues should be reported to the owners promptly so they can be addressed.
Section 12
Liability
- The owners accept no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to guests' personal belongings during the stay.
- Guests use the property, garden, and all facilities entirely at their own risk. The owners accept no liability for any injury, illness, or accident occurring during the stay, save where this arises from the owners' negligence.
- The owners reserve the right to enter the property at any time in the event of an emergency.
Section 13
Complaints
- Any problems or concerns during your stay should be raised with the owners as soon as possible so that we have the opportunity to resolve them.
- We are unable to accept complaints raised only after departure that were not brought to our attention during the stay.
Section 14
Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
